For most this would seem like this job was a winner. Which in our circumstance, as a young person with little job history, I thought it was the biggest blessing we could ever be granted. After struggle and struggle I could never find something permanent, and this seemed like the answer. Something that worked for the two of us and our little one.
I like to be the bread winner. From this angle though, I am about at my wits end.
A couple weeks back May 8th, the owners son stopped by about 930 in the morning, with no previous warning. He walked in the office to discuss some problems with the surrounding landscape and tenants. Acts that I needed to be consistent on. (My bf was out of town) He badgered me why my bf was not home with my son and I. Mind you when I got hired he explained to me that this was a one person job and that I could easily handle the tasks he assigned, with little to no help. After about two months of my employment, my list overgrew with things that I needed to complete (landscaping, room maintenance, house cleaning) which would leave the office empty and me out on a trek across the motel.
That afternoon the owner's showed up. They did not like that my boyfriend was not helping me, and that he was out of town. They then told me that I could not do this job by myself and that I needed my bf's help. It was my bf's responsibility as it was mine, to cover when I was outside.
Fuck you..
First of all I am the only person that receives a paycheck from these chummy, cheap bastards. No where in the original interview did they mention that it was my bf's responsibility to take care of the office when I was outside busy, or to do the maintenance items..Like taking down a curtain rod, cutting a hole in the drywall, putting a piece of wood in the wall, re-patching the hole, then screwing the god damn curtain rod back in. <-- That is apparently our job, not the maintenance guy's.
Second, They only show up on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Today is June 4th, a Tuesday, they didn't show up. Payday is the 5th. I will not get paid til the 6th of June. Which now means, they are withholding my pay check. Which I believe is illegal.
I am so beyond frustrated.
